Sudoku lovers and crossword fans: unite! This collection is sure to fascinate—and challenge—both groups. It’s the greatest combination ever of wordplay and logic, the ultimate in left-brain, right-brain puzzle solving. The tricky fun begins with a crossword that features some special shaded squares. Complete it as usual, and transfer the letters in those squares to the wordoku grid. Then, solve that puzzle, and figure out the hidden word, using standard sudoku reasoning. Two sets of nine blanks, for the letters used in the wordoku, provide solvers with a little extra help: first, place the letters in alphabetical order—for example, AEMNORSTY. Then rework them to create a memorable phrase on the second group of blanks: in this case OYSTERMAN. The hidden word? It’s MONASTERY!
