Well done, Coach K! March 27, 2000 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Make no mistake, Coach K has written a guide for life---not just a guide for sports. In his insightful way, he shows all of us how adherence to strong values and concern for fellow man translate into a rich and rewarding life journey. Moreover, we come away from this book understanding why it is that even when Duke loses, it's still a winner....people like Coach K make the difference!
Leadership explanation at its best March 15, 2000 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I thoroughly enjoyed this book on leadership because of its analogies using the sport of basketball. The examples used are vivid, and they represent a stronger truth that we can find leadership and leaders in all walks of life. Hats off to this book. Also recommend a book on leadership that goes into the detail we need to learn it and learn it correctly: "The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills."
motivational power March 14, 2000 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Mike is the simply the best college basketball coach in America. His book details the principles he follows in building and motivating college kids into a team. This is not a twilight of the career definitive biography. Instead, it is a book that fans , coaches and players of all ages can enjoy and apply. Heck even Carolina fans can find much to agree with in this volume!
Not only a coach but a cadet March 13, 2000 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
Coach K went to West Point where, as he put it, everyone majors in leadership. Because of all the leaders he's been around, it's easy to see why Duke is the preeminent college basketball power today.
