Complete Linebacking! October 25, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book teaches coaches and players how to play the Linebacker position. Coach Tepper has done a great job of producing fantastic linebackers. Within the book he shares the tools to be the best. Several of the reviews below are about the LSU team and don't have anything to do with playing the linebacker position. One reviewer even talks about Edinboro University where Coach Tepper is the head coach now being a losing team. They have made two straight trip to the D2 playoffs and 2 PSAC West Championships. But none of that has anything to do with him being a great Linebacker coach.

This book is exceptional. Coach Tepper goes through every defense imaginable! A must have for any coach, parent, or player.
Complete Linebacking Volume 2 ? LOL! June 19, 2004 5 out of 14 found this review helpful
The reviewer talking about LSU being a "Lower Echeleon" team in the SEC is woefully misguided, and needs to pick up a College Football record book. I am a Georgia fan, so I know of what I speak. I did read this book, mainly out of curiosity. It has become rather infamous with both LSU & Illinois fans. I have to agree with them "Complete Linebacking" is laughable, especially when you see it first hand! I saw Lou Tepper "Coach" both at LSU & Georgia & numerous times on TV. I remember QB Quincy Carter completed something like 24 consecutive passes against Tepper's incredibly poor defense. He also had a Linebacker cover Champ Bailey! Stupid? Well put it this way, Champ had fun that day! Just like the LSU guy said, Tepper did in fact line their DBs up 10 yards BEHIND the line of scrimmage, which is just not smart football, period. He never adjusted his Defenses to what was happening on the field. Fast forward 4 years, not only is LSU #1, but I had the misfortune of watching Saban's #1 Ranked Defense systematically dismantle one of the Best UGA teams in over a Decade TWICE in the same season. You want to see good Linebacking? Watch the play at the end of the 2004 National Championship where Oklahoma's Heisman QB Jason White was completly fooled by a perfectly disguised delayed MLB Rush & Sacked. LSU is the Defending National Champions of College Football. Saban was offered the Chicago Bears job, which he turned down to stay at LSU. Lou Tepper is coaching at some tiny school in PA. Draw your own conclusions...
Defensive genius? What a joke! May 26, 2004 4 out of 11 found this review helpful
This guy produced the WORST defense in the history of LSU football! In case any of the suck-ups who wrote those glowing reviews haven't noticed, LSU now has one of the best defenses in college football, thanks primarily to someone who is a REAL DEFENSIVE GENIUS, namely Nick Saban. In a relatively short time, Saban has managed to expunge the blot on the LSU program left by Professor Tepper. If anyone out there wants to really learn about defensive play, you might want to see whether Saban is considering writing a book anytime soon. But whatever you do, don't waste your time with "Dr. Tepper".
