4 out of 5 stars Dirt Bike Racer Review by Ashton Bradford   June 7, 2005

Skill and luck, at least that's what Ron thinks. Dirt Bike Racer is about a kid named Ron who finds a mini bike at the bottom of a lake while scuba diving. He wants to replace all the parts, but he doesn't have any money. He gets a job working for Mr. Perkins. He finds out Mr. Perkins use to race. Ron finally makes it to a race, but wrecks. I think the theme of this book is sports. The author of this book is Matt Christopher and he always writes about sports. What inspired him to write books, was a piece, someone wrote in high school wrote. It inspired him because he wished he could write like that some day. Matt Christopher has written many books some of them are Peach Street, The Extreme Team, and Soccer Cats. A quote he has gone by is "Good judgment comes from experience, experience comes from bad judgment." I think the quote is good because when you do something bad you learn from it. I recommend this book because it's a good and exciting book.

When Ron finds a dirt bike at the bottom of a lake, he cannot believe his luck. However, the bike needs fiking up and that takes money. This book is called "Dirt Bike Racer" by Matt Christopher. Ron needs to find out how to make some cash, so he can finally make his racing dream come true.
Ron finally found a job working for his neighbor and finds out something amazing. He used to be a great racer when he was younger! Ron was always curious about his racing days and always wanted to learn more. Little did he know that the job would lead him to the one person who can threaten his dream. throughout his working career with Mr. Perkins, Mr. Perkins' nephew Mark could not stand Ron. He felt as if he were trying to take his uncle away from him.
So what do you know, Mark secretly hires a racer to try and make Ron lose in the big race. Ron doesn't even know whats going on, he thinks that its just a good old fun race. Will Ron overcome Mark's nasty plan, or will he fall right into his little trap?

5 out of 5 stars The Lost DirtBike   December 16, 2004
2. This book is a really good book tide in with a really good sport. The book made me feel like I wanted a dirtbike. 1. The book starts off the boy gose scubadiving with his friend in a lake. The boy gose to the bottom of the lake because he see's something shiny, and when he get's to the bottom of the lake he find's a dirtbike laying there. He brings it up out of the lake he takes it home and ask his dad if he can keep it. His dad said, You can keep it only if you earn the money to buy the part's on your own. The boy get's a job working for a old man. You will have to read the story to find out if he get's the money to buy the part's he need's. 3. This book represen's suspense because I was wondering what that shiny thing was at the bottom of the lake, I was wondering if he will earn the money or not. Suspense means anxious feeling about what happens next.4. I recommend this book to any body who likes dirtbikes or any body that likes book's that have suspense in them.

This book is really good story tied in with a good sport. It all began when the boy finds a dirt bike at the bottom of a lake when he goes scuba diving. he brings it up and cleans it up. He has to buy new parts so he works for an old man who used to be a racer so eventually they bond. the old mans nephew wants his uncles money when he dies and since hes assoiating with another boy he doesn't like it. He hires someone to try to mess the boy up so his uncle will hate him and not give him the money. Will his plan work, or will he fail, and lose the money he wants?

A Review by Ryan

One day Ron and his friend Tony were out scuba diving and found a YZ80 (which is a dirt bike) at the bottom of the lake. The bike needs fixing up and that takes a lot of money. He gets a job with a rich man named Mr. Perkins and becomes very good friends with him. He fixes up the bike with his friends Mike and Tony. He believes that his dream of racing will finally come true. Little does he know that when he took the job that one person could threaten his dream?

I like how this books characters. I can visualize what the characters look like and act by the authors descriptions. Also the characters have there own personality traits that are very strongly written. Another thing I like about this book is the action scenes because they are very suspenseful and the author always keeps you thinking. When you think you know what is going to happen next in a race, he completely fools you with something else. One thing I don't like about this book is the language. I don't like it because he doesn't use the correct words for the races. He uses the word meet instead of moto.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sports and has an interest in dirt bike racing. Also to anyone who likes a lot of action and suspense. I t would be a good book for someone who isn't that good of a reader.
