Jason has outdone himself. If you are looking to get in shape for your nexy fight, you NEED this book!
Jim Smith, CSCS April 18, 2008 Jay Ferruggia has blown away all conventional wisdom around strength and conditioning for combat athletics. No more machines, no more useless training routines, no more low intensity, no more BS. Be explosive, get stronger and smash people. I love the creativity in Fit to Fight, great job Jay!!!
Best of the best for mma training (and for general strength and athleticism too) April 17, 2008 Fit to Fight is one of the best books, if not the best I've read for mma conditioning, although its principles are applicable in training for any other sports that require strength, speed, endurance, and overall athleticism. But returning to mma training, this books covers all the training aspects that you need for becoming a more dominant fighter, and it covers them vastly. As I've said before, the best of the best in mma training. You really should get this book!!
Great Strength and Conditioning Program April 16, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Fit to Fight is a great resource on strength and conditioning for combat athletes and is also applicable to just about any non-endurance sport out there. Jason Ferruggia breaks down the sport into its physiological requirements and provides effective training methods to maximize your potential in those crucial areas. The book includes an extensive exercise library with full description and photos to take the guess work out of performing the movements correctly. For those of you unfamiliar with Strongman training, the chapter included in this book will open your eyes to training methods that will help you take your strength and conditioning to the next level. Also included in the book is a detailed section on prehab/prevention to help you avoid injuries that would keep you on the sideline, as well as a section on what to do to maximize your recovery after intense training sessions. Finally, the information provided on nutrition will let you know exactly how to fuel your body for your workouts. This book is a must-have for your training library.
