1 out of 5 stars Buy the Lore of Running - not this one!   October 5, 2007
2 out of 8 found this review helpful

This book could have been summed up in an introduction. Essentially don't waste energy when you're running. A little bit of biomechanics and a little bit of physics disguised as Eastern Philosophy. A waste of paper; in the form of a book and from my wallet in the form of money. Buy the book "Lore of Running" - smartest most complete book on running known to date. Very useful... worth your time and money. Still want this book - take mine.

5 out of 5 stars life changing   September 11, 2007
I have been a runner for years, for excercise. This book has taught me how to take it to the next level!! So far I have gone from running for 30 minutes to an hour!!

4 out of 5 stars Chi or POSE   September 8, 2007

I have now read both Danny Dreyer's Chi Running and Nicholas Romanov's POSE Method of Running several times and if you're thinking of picking one or the other I'd say you can learn a lot by reading both

POSE is a little more mechanical, in its approach... chi a little more, well, Zen but the core messages are very similar and there are enough differences in approach to make them both worthwhile

5 out of 5 stars Not only for runners... golfers too   August 9, 2007

Just reading this book about how to make running easier and less stressful on the body... interesting and decided to apply the idea to my golf practice at the driving range yesteray... incredible! Hitting my woods 25 yd further than ever with just a change in focus.. and only one thing to think about... oh yeah, and my run this morning WAS easier and faster too... going to pursue this for sure and may look for a CHI GOLF book!!

5 out of 5 stars I actually enjoy running??   July 18, 2007

2 Laps...That was all I could do before trying the technique mentioned in this book. Sure, on a good day, I could push out 3, maybe even 4. But it usually only took half a mile before the shin splints and tight calves had me calling it quits. It was embarassing. I had to do something. So I went to Books-A-Million one day and checked out all the books on running. Most just rehashed a bunch of information I had already tried from choosing the correct shoe to increasing your leg strength.

Then I saw Chi Running...I had recently become interested in learning Yoga and Pilates, so this title immediately grabbed me. I skimmed through the pages and found his technique interesting. I took a chance and dropped 15 dollars on the book. After seeing it here for less, I realize i overpaid, but it was all good.

After a week, 2 laps turned to four laps...easily...4 laps turned to 6. Shin splints have disappeared. Calves are just as loose when I finish as when I started. I have only been using this technique for 10 days and I can already see a huuuge difference! I cannot begin to sing my praises to Danny Dreyer. I've gone from dreading running to actually enjoying running. Dare I say it again? I actually enjoy running!!

The book states that this technique may take a few months to master, and I'm sure I have a long way to go, but the effects can and will be felt after just the first run. Do yourself a favor and give this book a try. Buy it used if you feel the price is too high. Personally, I would have gladly paid 50 bucks for it.

I'll see you at the track. I'll be the guy smiling as he runs. :)
