Great book to explain to family and friends May 12, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a son with Autism and this book helped my family understand many of the issues that my wife and I had been trying to explain for years. I actually have ordered 4 books!
A good overview of friendships and autism April 10, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book was wonderful to share with my son's friends and classmates.
Best Group Lesson Plan March 30, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I recently took this book to my son's third grade classroom and spent an hour just talking with the kids about Autism. With this book as a guide, it was easy to clearly explain the symptoms of autism. The suggested portions of "walking in their shoes" provided a simple way for the kids to begin to understand what it might be like to have ASD. The book provoked wonderful questions from the kids and referencing the book I was able to give understandable answers. Even though we live with autism, it helped my third grader to better understand his brother. It is well written, well layed out and simple to follow. I'll be taking it to my daughter's pre-k classroom soon. It shows children that differences aren't scarry. They are just different. I highly recommend this book.
not what we hoped--but still good March 12, 2007 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is not a book so much for parents of children with ASD or for the child themselves. Rather it is an individual workbook for peers and classmates of children with Autism.
Great Book March 8, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I found this book to be one of the best written books for children to understand how different we all are. I loved it so much, I brought it to my son's school where his teacher agreed. She read it to the entire class. She asked if she could keep it longer so other teachers could also read it to their class. The school is now buying their own copy!
