A fine disc January 19, 2008 I play with both discraft and whamo... No noticeable difference.. Maybe if your a pro or a faithful of discraft (or maybe work for them).. then you can tell the difference or at least will claim that discraft is the best... Apparently that must be the case in some of the other reviews... But for casual players and backyard frisbee enthusiasts (like me) this disc is a great flying disc and has a great feel to me...But hey, I am a regular guy... I like Discraft too... I like golf too... but I do not claim allegiance to Titlest either, or Nike Golf shirts. Its a brand for all sakes........ I just don't fall into that Taste Great - Less filling, Ford - chevy, Democrat - Republican camps like so many reviewers do... Its a frisbee... My only gripe with Whamo is, there ridiculous trademark claim on the word frisbee.... Good disc... You won't be disappointed...
tacos anyone? January 14, 2008 In my experience Wham-O's get taco-ed. Not because they're especially susceptible to bending out of shape, but because people enjoy seeing them taco-ed. I suppose a Wham-O may rise in usefulness when a particularly aggro player/team takes the disc. Right before he/she spikes the game disc full force into the ground swipe it and put the Wham-O in its place. A few seconds later you'll have a perfectly good game disc and a perfectly taco-ed Wham-O. As the offender's teammates rush the field, none will be the wiser.
Seriously though, Wham-O's tend to have blunt rims which when slightly worn in can become quite a bit more uncomfortable to throw than another disc. It's true; most players would prefer not to play with a Wham-O.
fine for throwing around, not suitable for ultimate November 10, 2007 my wife got me this whamo disc, and i don't have complaints for it as a frisbee. For playing ultimate, the Discraft ultra-star is preferable, it has better flying characteristics and it the norm and gold-standard for ultimate play. Most any group that isn't playing ultimate for the first time will insist, request, or prefer playing with a discraft ultrastar disc.
I disagree July 20, 2007 Wham-O may have invented the "Frisbee", but for ultimate Discraft's flying discs have surpassed these. Wham-Os are good starter discs, but for serious play Discraft is king.
Ultimate in Nicaragua June 13, 2007 A bunch of us expats/missionaries play ultimate every Sunday in Managua. We have used a bunch of different discs, but these Wham-o Ultimate Frisbees are by far the best. They also hold up the best in these harsh conditions.
