Best Travel Case January 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This case is bomber, nothing else can compare with the protection that it affords your expensive snowsports equipment during travel. Yes, it is heavy-I took it to Colorado with two complete setups(2 snowboards with bindings and 2 pairs of boots) and it weighed in right at 50 pounds, but then again I never worried for a second that my boards would be damaged in transit. I did not have the optional pull handle that atttaches to the nose of the case, but it would have made things MUCH easier. Pulling the case by the handle that comes standard puts a great deal of strain on your arm. For the price of this case, the pull handle should be included, and if so would rank 5 stars. I highly recommend this case, especially for airline travel and shipping. Plus you can cover it with tons of stickers.
HEAVVVVYYYY! January 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I guess I should have expected it, but this case is heavy (and I'm no weak fluffy bunny). Empty - it's heavy. Filled - it's ridiculously heavy. It's more suited for taking on car trips but I wouldn't recommend flying with it. It's easier to rent your snowboard/skis on the slopes than try and drag this behemoth around unless you're really hardcore attached to your gear. So we're using it to store our gear but we won't be flying anywhere with it.
There's some kind of service that will ship your SporTube to your destination but for the money, hassle and lugging it around it's still probably better to rent, unfortunately.
Weigh you stuff first. December 22, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I did extensive searches for a ski bag and Sportube is the bag recommended by most reviews if you want the best protection for your gear. And after recieving the bag, it is clearly a very sturdy bag and I have no doubt it will hold up well,so I have no regrets in purchasing a sportube.
What I do now realize that one cannot put three pairs of skis and poles in it without going over the Airlines 50Lb weight limit.
So for snowboarders this is a great bag, but for skiers I would suggest buy the sportube 2 instead because you really can't use it for 3 pairs of skis.

I used this case to transport shotguns on a Delta flight for a Regional Trap Shoot. It worked fine - no problems with the guns, Delta or TSA. I could also pack other accessories in the same case along with my shooting clothes. I bought the extra handle - which is a must - it has wheels, so I was able to pull it everywhere with ease. To my amazement - the Airlines didn't destroy it - in fact it still looked new after the round trip - and all contents arrived in perfect condition.

I traveled with the SporTube through the airport without any issue. It is big, but the wheels keep the case stable when pulling. I was able to fit my snowboard with bindings attached and all of my gear without any problems. I do recommend getting the handle though, that would make pulling the case easier
