Great Book June 22, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been trying to write a book like this for the past 20 years. Great fiction is born, not just made. God inspires People with Great talent. I am jellous that My writting doesnt come close to this quallty. This is a story that one just cant put down. If I could write something like this My Dad would be proud of me.
Too bad it's only fiction! May 18, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just finished reading this book, and what a great story it is! I found myself searching the internet to convince myself that Beau Stedman did NOT caddy at Augusta National. I am about to start The Greatest Course That Never Was and expect the same easy read as this was. The golf history was fascinating and the characters likable. Highly recommend this book.
A Solid Read June 19, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you have any weakness in remembering the acccomplishments of the golfers from the twenty's, thirty's, forty's and fifty's, this book will be invaluable. It is also a fun read and has an interesting twist at the end. The book cover suggests it is a combination of Grisham and Finestein. That is a bit of hyperbole, but it is a well done piece of writing and one which golfers and non-golfers can relate to. Worth picking up.
A Great Read! March 1, 2002 The author does an excellent job of developing this heretofore unimaginable story--of a world class golfer who needs to remain anonymous. By the end of the story, however, it all fits together beautifully. This book was truly a pleasure to read. By the way, the same author wrote another book (The Greatest Course That Never Was) which is equally enjoyable.
Excellent golf facts and fiction novel! January 5, 2002 I normally stick to non-fiction books when it comes to sports, especially for golf. I was on vacation and this was the only golf paperback book in the airport so I bought it. Excellent, excellent read. It's a fast read too. The front cover says its a mix of Grisham and Feinstein. I've both authors and would agree! Great book because it mixes fact/history with fiction.
