An excellent book to be up-date in orthopaedics July 13, 2001 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like this much more than the big "orthopaedics: study guide", it is easy and very readeable. All we the orthopaedist need it for beeing up-date, and the residents for being in charge at the E.R.
No bones about it July 13, 2001 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book is so helpful, you hardly need a medical degree to practice. Patients can use this text and practically treat themselves!
A treasure to UP-DATE the general orthopaedics knowledge... July 1, 2001 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
There are some books, maybe very few, that make orthopaedics practice easier, this is one of them, you may read it every day or night when resting, while fishing or camping. One may take a subject: giant cell tumor, and in few moments remember the main points; or know new things in few minutes as when see the Chevron' s procedure for some hallux valgus. This is a current procedure in USA, but was not used in latinamerican countries since 25 years ago, and now it returns...and so on... if you have Campbell's or Chapman's then you need this book.
A Review is Just a Review February 25, 2001 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am a military flight surgeon applying to Orthopaedic Surgery residencies this fall. I bought this book to help give me an overview of current practice. The book covers basic sciences and all of the subspecialties comprehensively and concisely in outline format. Diagrams are minimal and crude but they do adequately support to text. Because it is a REVIEW book, it does not try to teach basic information to the reader; it is assumed that you are a knowledgeable orthopaedic practitioner. I found that, even as a practicing physician, I needed to review my anatomy and orthopaedics at a more basic level in order to get the most out of this book. I was able to quickly identify some of my weaknesses and, more importantly, become more fluent with orthopaedic jargon. I no longer rely on this book for my basic source material. Instead, I am concentrating on reading the classic orthopaedic texts for my primary education -- I will rely on this book as a REVIEW only. In that capacity it earns its five star review.
Great Book. July 7, 2000 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
