5 out of 5 stars Meat for the Soul   December 11, 2007
7 out of 8 found this review helpful

I have read all of Gary Zukav's books and I find Soul to Soul to be his best. It follows Seat of the Soul with nourishing meat for the Soul that is easy to understand and fills you with what is needed for your Spiritural Growth. What a journey.

I am a huge fan of Gary's and this follow in his tradition of fabulous thoughtful books. I do not think it was as good as his other titles but it was an easier read for those who are starting to re-evaulate their thinking.

4 out of 5 stars wisdom and compassion   November 16, 2007

I like the structure of this book; the chapter titles are honest, direct, and poetic. The "Soul Subject" discussion offers readers opportunities to connect with the themes without being didactic. The rich lyricism of the writing makes the reading experience fluid and reflective. I found myself skipping around in the book to read sections with topics I found intriguing and then going back to read the book in sequential order. The message of thinking, acting intentionally to develop authentic power and the reminder that we are all on a collective journey to develop wisdom and compassion weave through every analogy, narrative, and response.
The book's conversational tone is inviting, sincere, and powerful.

4 out of 5 stars The Meat of the Soul   November 15, 2007

I enjoy reading Gary because he is an excellent writer, and he has interesting insights into what could be called the laws of the universe. I don't agree with all of his ideas, though. For example, Gary has been saying for years that emotions are the forcefield of the soul. In my experience, emotions have nothing to do with the soul. Emotions come from thoughts. It is my mind that makes me angry over something one moment, and it is my mind that has the ability to transform that anger into something else. My soul remains unchanged in the process. My soul is divine and connected at every moment of life. It is my mind that creates emotional ups and downs and fragments reality.

But a great deal of Zukavs perceptions/ideas do have a certain ring of truth. It is not necessary for one to agree with everything he writes in order to benefit. Read him with an open mind and an open heart.

I have read several books by Gary Zukav and they are great. I liked this book for its insights and relevance. Also, I liked the division of the book into the two major sections. I am using this book not infrequently as I confront challenges and opportunities. You should read this.
