Not quite a five. January 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm glad I read the reviews before I read the book as I knew what to expect. It was a welcome change to have a book that the point of view was mostly from the man. I also was warned that this was not primarily a love story. SBC fighter Dean "Havoc" Conor receives a letter from a sister he thought had forgotten him when his uncle took him 20 years ago after the death of their parents. As it turned out, evil Aunt Lorna who had custody of the girls, refused to raise Dean, and told them that Dean wanted nothing to do with them and that there was no way to contact him.
Returning to town to meet his sisters he runs into Eve, a close friend of Cam & Jackie, who he is immediately attracted to. Dean comes to realize that he is part of a family, loved and wanted, if he can just let go of his fear of being hurt. It's great to see him opening up even though he fights it.
Why did I give it a 4? 1. Cam was naive and rather wimpy. In spite of the fact that Lorna had been cold when raising them and had stolen much of their inheritance she made excuses for her because she "did the best job she could". Bull. 2. Roger was a mean, self-centered, manipulative, unfeeling creature. I suppose we were supposed to sympathize with him in the end because of his childhood but give me a break! Cam loving him made no sense. 3. Way, way more information about Eve having her period that I ever wanted to know!
But this was a good start to the SBC series and I've already started "Simon Says".
Entertaining, spicy romance November 11, 2007 I found this to be a quick read with a decent mixture of plot twists and spicy romance. This was the first full length novel I've read from Ms. Foster, and based on this book I'll probably try purchasing a few more. The story comes together at the end and overall it was a satisfying read.
Romance and mystery September 29, 2007 I liked this one, the bad guy was a complete surprise {so i won't say who it was here, so that the book isn't spoiled for you} perhaps it was just me, but i had no idea who the bad guy was until she revealed it...I love that in a book.
HAVOC TAKES OVA HARMONY September 25, 2007 This was a great book, the author wrote extremely well. Was very descriptive and you could relate to the characters. I loved the anticipation that was created and the boundaries that were crossed to make the family come together as one!
3 and a half stars really! August 21, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I will start by saying that this wasn't a bad book but when I pick up a Lori Foster book, I have certain expectations especially in the romance area. Causing Havoc dealt with family issues and how it was for Dean to be reunited with his sisters and learn to be a big brother at the same time. The story was done very well, it seemed believable and the issues seemed very real. Having said that, the romance suffered big time! Dean and Eve had excellent chemistry but I wish it wasn't thrown in as a side story. I hope Simon Says makes up for the romance and passion missing in this one!
