Not really a romance. March 20, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was a disappointing read. The story was not really about the romance between the hero and heroine, but more about the hero reuniting with his long lost sisters. I too didn't get how slimey Roger ended up a good guy? This seems like a totaly different author from the one who wrote TOO MUCH TEMPTATION; now THAT was a good book.
Not What We've Come to Expect March 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Lori Foster has spoiled us, I'll admit. She's raised the bar high and sometimes she misses. "Causing Havoc" had a great feel to it in the beginning. I liked that Dean was wary of his younger sisters, from whom he was separated at the age of 9 when their aunt decided to raise the girls but did not want him when their parents died. As other reviewers have said, Dean and his blossoming relationship with his sisters is the focus: NOT his relationship with Eve. I, too, had a problem with Roger's character's seemingly instantaneous transformation into a loving man for Cam. I wanted her to get her own story with Simon, Dean's manager. Maybe Roger will return to the manner in which he behaved at the beginning of this book and Cam will grow a spine and toss him back. Seriously, even with Roger's problems, which I won't go into here, does anyone think it's okay that in the first part of this book he grabs Eve's hand and bruises her, yanking her around? He's a jackass to everyone but Cam, whom he's sucking up to for other reasons that I won't describe here. THIS is no Lori Foster hero or even one in the making. The "bad boyfriend" in "Just a Hint Clint" was redeemable; Roger? Not so much. Eve's character gets shortchanged and we don't see her as an event planner, except in the very beginning when she's at Roger's bar and meets Dean. I don't mind so much that these two were immediately attracted and kissed. I just wanted her to have more to do in this story and she didn't. I liked Jacki and Gregor, but wanted her to graduate from college, start her school-teaching career and THEN meet Gregor again. Maybe that'll happen in a future book, but don't see how with the way this story concludes. From anyone else, this story would probably rate higher with me, but this is Lori Foster and she's better than this. I just hope she's not reached the status of Nora Roberts and is surrounded by "yes women" at the publishing houses. NO ONE should get a free pass on some of the plot devices and deficiencies in this book. I'll keep buying her books new, so this one didn't turn me off. It just left me with a "is that IT?" kind of feeling that I'm unaccustomed to with Foster's books.
Fun read March 15, 2007 Being a boxing and mixed martial arts fan, I really enjoyed the characters in this book, and Foster's writing style was fresh, funny, and steamy in the right spots. The only reason I didn't give the book 5 stars is that some of the plot didn't make a lot of sense - there were some gaps in why characters (particularly the villain) would possibly act the way they did. I also had a real problem with how much one of the supporting characters was made dislikable at the beginning of the book, but was supposed to be part of a happy ending for one of the other supporting characters at the end - the character never felt fully redeemed for what I think was inexcusable behavior at the beginning and most of the way through the book, and I still didn't like the character at the end. Apart from that small criticism, even knowing that, I would have bought and enjoyed reading this book because of the great main characters and fun factor, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances.
UFC and Romance - Super HOT! March 11, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Lori Foster delivers another hot story! Who knew that UFC fighters and romance would make such a smokin' hot combo! Looking forward to Simon Says!
She does it again!!! March 9, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved it. Lori Foster did it again! Another page turner-I couldn't put it down. I love her characters and down to earth subjects and humor. I have recommended this to others.
