Boo! January 5, 2002 7 out of 15 found this review helpful
Sorry guys, this book is a crock, a total waste of money. If you're looking for a "manly" way to lose weight, start by picking up an issue of "Men's Health" or "Men's Fitness" -- by all means do not do what I did and waste money on this thinly-disguised advertisement for this guy's supplements. It's written at about a third-grade reading level, it includes an excess of stuff we don't need to know again, and very little in the way of useful workout or diet guidelines. Save yourself the trek back to the post office to return this one -- don't buy it.
Manly Weight loss August 5, 2001 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book is overpriced for the amount of information in it. I think the author could have offered more information on weight lifting , weight loss and calories etc. Too many ads for supplements also. I wish I could get my money back.
Manly Weight Loss May 25, 2001 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
An excellant book for weight loss and muscle gain. I have been weight training for over 20 years. I find Mr. Poliquin's books clear and to the point, containing none of the pages and pages of non information found in most books. I've been on the beginning program for three weeks and have loss fat, even though I have not applied the diet part of his plan. I am excited to think what will happen when I apply the diet.
"AEROBICS" DON'T WORK! December 15, 2000 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
True, the book is thin, but you will not find what he says anywhere else. Take it for the information and routines. Do not take it for the drawings which look silly. I hate aerbics and I may never do them again thanks to people likes St. Poliquin. If you are a true man you should read this book or at least go over to Testosterone.net.
It's Manly about our loss! May 28, 2000 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
What kind of joke was this book? Everybody out there please please don't buy this! The examples of the diets are just one per weight class! He dosen't go into how should someone eat during the the rest of the days before they take their lower calorie days. I noticed the workout routines were printed in small type, I had the general feeling it was more of a promotion for a supplement company. There was only examples filled with supplements when concerning the diets. It really was just a summary of what you should be doing but nothing in-depth. The back of the book tells you how this "strength coach" helps olympic stars and footbal teams or hockey players. What about the general public? There is truly no concern for us. Why would a trainer reveal too many secrets in a book? Then all those teams and players would stop asking for advice, they could just read it in the Book! The diets in the book need more clarification and the workout routines should be explained more clearly. The constant shoving of supplements in the book have moved me to never buy the products of any company especially the one constantly thrown in my face in this book. I am very dissapointed and really in the end it dosen't matter because no-one out their really cares to share much of what they know.
