Pat Summitt should take Phil Jackson's place as head coach!! July 2, 1998 I felt like I could slam dunk a basketball after reading Coach Summitt's book & I'm only 5'0 tall! I really admire the confidence she has in herself and her team. When I grow up, I want to be like Pat Summitt.
I admire this courageous Southern woman for stepping out. June 25, 1998 I say to the reader whom this book scared, get over it! I think it is quite awesome that a Southern woman can be this direct and courageous. When so many of us Southern women fight the everyday stigma of most everyone's idea of what we SHOULD be, I commend Pat Summitt for being herself. I was inspired, touched, and laughing my head off at the antics at which she would go to get her point across. We share the same work ethics and the fact that she put them down in writing made me more confident that what I am doing in my life is right. You GO Girl!!!!!!
This is a scary book. June 21, 1998 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
I couldn't help but notice that most of the positive reviews came from Tennessee folks. To non-resident fans who just want to gain insight into her coaching methods, this woman seems brutal and degrading to her players and obsessed with basketball to an unhealthy degree. With her success, it frightens me that coaches of younger girls will emulate her style and make life miserable for developing young talent. The book is certainly revealing, well written in a folksy way, but unsettling.
Awesome June 11, 1998 As a 14 year old, I pride myself in not reading anything. Because I have tremendous respect for Pat and love the Lady Vols, I sacrificed my ego and bought the book the week it came out. You don't have to be a Lady Vol fan to enjoy the book. To those people who think Pat is a vilian(sp), you will see her humanized. It is really inspirational, and I could not put it down. I would recommend this book to any person. we could all use a little pick-me-up, and some of the best basketball players ever are talked about. This book was not a normal "coaches" book. Pat Summitt doesn't just win by luck. It is definately one of the best books I have ever read.(I read when I was a little younger.)
Excitiong and down to earth May 31, 1998 It is wonderful that Pat's players graduate. That say's a lot about her program. The book, once I got started I could not put it down and it is now making the rounds of my frinds...Keep up the good work at UT.
