The Knitter's Book of Finoshing Techniques April 4, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I don't usually buy my knitting pattern or reference books sight unseen, but I took a chance on ordering this book because of its' rave reviews. I really liked the idea that I could browse through the index on-line and thought that alone was impressive. Aside from learning the very basics of knitting from my Mom when I was 18, I am pretty much a self-taught knitter. As a "stay-at-home-mom" I could never afford to take classes I had to pay for but when I got bored with just the stockinette stitch designs, I was determined to take on the more intricate Aran designs as well as other things. I have always thought there had to be better ways to "finish" items and this book really does it! Everything is clear and there are so many ways of doing different things in order to get that "professional" look! The various suggestions for how to begin or finish something to go with a certain design are great! It's like having your own personal tutor on hand all the time. I will recommend this book to others, especially my students! So, in closing, I would like to say, "Thank you, Nancie, for the best knitting reference book I've ever bought! And thanks to Amazon.com for the way they describe books and their fast service.
Knitter's book of finishing techniques(Nancy.M.Wiseman) February 27, 2006 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have been knitting for 70 years and I belong to the knitting guild and I do own many knitting books and enjoy most, the ones about techniques.( I am not a machine knitter) I just got this book but I can see that I will get many excellent ways to improve my habitual knitting.I like the easy to turn spiral pages, the colorful and easy to understand pictures and I appreciate the hard cover. I also have "Knitting tips & trade secrets" and I thought that the information in the 2 books might be repetitious, they are not I would say that both are very helpful and enjoyable and would be good for whatever level of knitting expertise of the knitter.

This is the best knitting book I've come across so far. It goes everywhere my knitting does.
My best Knitting purchase November 30, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Besides yarn, of course. This is the best reference I have bought to really create beautiful garments. Love the pros and cons for each method and the illustrations and instructions for sewing on a sleeve have changed my life. I am self taught so I was just making stuff up in the past - now I know how its really done. I don't agree that garments knitted on the round twist around the body, but everything else is pure genius. Love the spiral. This book is a must-have.
