Well Organized, Easy To Follow Patterns for Beginner Sock Knitters September 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Before choosing to buy this book I checked out the reviews of similar books. I wanted a book for MY purposes and skill level. Although I have been knitting a while, I had never knitted socks before and wanted to learn.
This book contains attractive photos, has a clean layout, has clearly-written chapters explaining sock anatomy, foot measurement, gauge charts, knitting instructions and suitable pattern stitches. For those who can't always get specified yarns, this book allows you to substitute. Towards the back of the book are project socks that I myself wouldn't mind wearing or giving as gifts.
Since receiving this book Sept. 2(a gift from a friend who saw my wish list) I have made two pairs of basic socks that I've posted in my Ravelry project list.
If you're a sock newbie, this is definitely useful, practical, worth getting and keeping.
Great for beginners September 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wish I had had this book when I knit my first pair of socks. The instructions are clear and the author explains sock construction. Nice patterns for every skill level. I recommend it for all sock knitting levels.
Excellent book on knitting socks!!! September 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had always wanted to knit socks. After doing many scarves, afghans, wraps, and even experimented in bags and felting...I had ALWAYS wanted to do socks. I checked out online "movie" type tutorials, other well known knitting sites, and even studied some of the other books I own in terms of "knitting in the round on DPNs." It wasn't until I bought this book that I was able to actually knit an actual sock! The text and terms are easy to understand and the step by step pictures to go along with the instructions are simply wonderful. Even when NOT knitting patterns from this book, I still refer back to it for additional information...or just to simply look at a picture to see if mine even remotely looks like I am doing the right thing. Excellent book!!!
Knitting socks August 11, 2008 Knitting Socks is an excellent book with straight forward instructions that make sense. I'd tried several patterns before I found this book at the library and I loved it so much that I bought it! Happy knitting!
