5 out of 5 stars Normally, I don't go for craft books, but   January 28, 2007

with this one, I made an exception to my rule. And I'm so glad I did! Unlike most craft books that just go step-by-step showing one the precise way to make something, this has more. Yes, the detailed instructions are there for those who want them, but more importantly, Traci has a lot of bright off-the-wall ideas, and that's why I bought it. Traci spent a lot of time teaching art to kids, and that shows in her style. That may sound like a bad thing, but believe me, I mean it as a compliment! I'm sick of craft books advising us to buy expensive materials to use. Traci's methods feature cheap items (like plain paper towels) and they look better than the expensive things in other books. Many of Traci's instructions call for "any mark making tool", and she includes items like "coffee stir sticks" in that category. You just have to love her for that - how many of us would be creative enough to think of a coffee stir stick as an art tool?

As a fiber artist, I am excited about the potential for techniques to
enhance my mini-art quilts. Marj San Diego

2 out of 5 stars Dissapointed!   January 21, 2007

I was very dissapointed by this book, but maybe it's because I love bright, vibrant colors...... Traci uses "dirty", muddy colors, and I think this book looks like it came out years ago......It's too messy for me.

3 out of 5 stars paper embellishment, scrapbooking   January 11, 2007

I think the designs are pretty to look at but nothing I would ever do. I was hoping for more fabric collages and this is almost strictly paper work. I'm not in to the scrapbooking since I am a quilter, so it wasn't as useful to me. Scrapbookers would love the ideas.

1 out of 5 stars There is nothing to this book   January 9, 2007

This book is not as promised. It is very light, maybe suitable for a young teen. I am a practising Artist and it did not give me anything that I could work with, no new ideas or processes. Very much a let down, I flicked through it then put it on my bookshelf.
