great book March 5, 2008 I bought this book after taking it out of the library for my daughter. She is just learning to use a sewing machine. It is full of information and colorful details. If you are a visual learner this is the book for you.
Very Comprehensive Guide to Sewing December 24, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am new to the sewing world, so this book has been very helpful to me in learning terminology and how to use all of the various tools of the trade. I like the step by step instruction, but I do wish some of the photography in the book could be updated a bit. Some of it looks very out of fashion, but the basic information is still current.
Exceeded expectations December 12, 2007 I bought this gift for my eldest daughter who recently expressed an interest in sewing. The book was shipped fast and I thoroughly looked it over before wrapping it. I loved the way the book is organized; there are step by step instructions and corresponding photos. I may actually get one for myself!
not for beginners! December 11, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
When I got my first sewing machine, I bought this book and Simplicity's Simply the Best Sewing Book to help me learn how to sew. Naturally, every time I begin a new project, I consult one book and then the other hoping that what one doesn't teach me the other will. I always end up on the internet trying to figure out sewing terms I don't understand, and confusing pictures that don't fully explain to me what to do. These books probably make sense to people who have had a bit of experience sewing, but being completely green at sewing I have found more help in reading the instruction manual for my sewing machine and searching on the internet than in these two books.
I said it before, I'll say it again... December 4, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I gave this book a good review before. I took it out last night and just was amazed on how it's such an easy reference book for intermediate sewers. I'm self taught, so sometimes I don't know exactly what a term means, why you should do it or how to do it properly. Photos and blurbs make it very user friendly and easy to understand.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!
