3 out of 5 stars Not completely useful for all sizes, but still inspiring!   August 3, 2007

i purchased this book a few months ago, very excited and eager, but i found that it was not entirely practical for all sizes. i found creative ideas in the many different simple changes that could be made and attached to each shirt. i noticed that they had many ideas that were usually hard to hide straps from (if you have to wear a bra). if you are not small enough, you may find some of these shirts not completely comfortable to wear. aside from that, if you can work from the ideas and innovate something unique, then you will have heaps of fun!

3 out of 5 stars overrated   July 22, 2007

I bought this book after reading a magazine review and I feel letdown. The book is not all that is propmised. Some of the suggestions are impractical, and it rubbed me the wrong way.

The authors could've done a better job of presenting the material. The format is rather dull and I'd have preferred more pictures.

I feel a book called RIP IT! which is similar, is superior. Rip It!: How to Deconstruct and Reconstruct the Clothes of Your Dreams

1 out of 5 stars Not worth your money or your time   July 22, 2007

This book is just awful and it seems that a 10 year old could have done a better job. I have always been a diy girl it is my life, tees are most of what I wear. I live in Fl and a nice cotton T is worth its weight in gold on hot days.
All that I really hated this book. If you have ever sewn in your life this book is an insult your intelligence, that being said if you know what a needle and thread are this book is a total waste of time. There are entire pages dedicated to explaining to you what a needle is, what a spool of thread looks like, etc.
Many projects are no sew, but don't be fooled but that, they are usually held together by safety pins, Please this is not the 80's safety pins are not a fashion statement. No sew skirts and tube tops are going to be too loose and floppy you would be over-exposed.
Having some experience with t-shirt reconstruction, i can assure you that none of these projects would hold up in the wash. Many of the shirts are construced and they would leave your twins hanging out and exposed. Also unless you have a major hour glass figure your hips will not be able to hold up the skrits.
The book lacks information and, frankly, knowledge. it seemed very rushed. I suggest you look on the internet or even think a bit and you will be saving your money.

I think two blind monkeys could have pulled off a better written book and been able to transforn T-shirts into better items.

5 out of 5 stars One Of My Favorite DIY Craft Books Ever!   July 19, 2007

This book is so much fun! Where to begin... There are so many awesome ideas for those old t-shirts and new one's that you want to add a special twist to. Not only that, but there are other projects you can make. From skirts, pillows, blankets, rugs, checkbook covers, i-pod covers, purses, totes, sunglass cases, dresses, earrings, hats, headbands, leg warmers, arm bands, pins, ponchos and even a wedding dress! This turned out to be the perfect purchase, it was just what i was looking for. I see all these t-shirts in the stores that are supposed to look re-constructed that are selling for big bucks. So, I wanted to know how to make my own great fashion statements. I'm tired of the same old choices that everyone else is wearing. I am 27 years old, but I am young at heart and very petite at 4'10, so the ideas in here are just right for me. I suppose that the shirt & skirt ideas are not right for everyone, especially if you like to be mostly covered up by your clothes. Or if you aren't into daring choices. But, I think that it doesn't matter what age you are, your clothes should reflect your personality and how you feel. I believe in dressing for the mood i'm in that day. Why does a gal have to have only one particular "style" that they dress in? Have fun with a broad variety of choices each and every day. This book has plenty of fun variations for each project, and great full color pictures of what your finished project will look like. It begins with the anatomy of a t-shirt to help you understand how t-shirts are made, and to help you when cutting up a t-shirt. Step by step instructions guide you through each project, and fun facts keep you entertained. This is a must own for the open minded fashionistas out there!

5 out of 5 stars loads of fun ideas   July 16, 2007
Now many will need a tank under because they are a little much unless you have a 14 year old body. But lots of ideas to play with and use those not so great tees.
