FASHION!! June 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
OUT OF THE MANY T-SHIRT CUTTING BOOKS THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST
OTHER BOOKS' PROJECTS CAN SHOW TOO MUCH SKIN AND ARE NOT PRACTICAL. THIS BOOK FOCUSES ON MAKING A GREAT ITEM OF CLOTHING OUT OF THE SIMPLEST AND MOST USED ITEM. THE BOOK IS SEPARATED INTO DIFFERENT CHAPTERS SUCH AS THE SKIRT ONE.
THERE ARE IDEAS OF WHAT TO DO WITH SCRAPS AS WELL
AS A 19 YEAR OLD WITH LOTS OF TIME IN MY HANDS AND A DEEP LOVE FOR FASHION, THIS IS AN AMAZING BOOK
VERY detailed book! June 14, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book's really got it all; plenty of pictures of the finished products, as well as step-by-step illustrations guiding you as you go. There's even a really handy "intro to sewing" chapter that I really appreciated, being rather non-talented in the sewing arena.
Overall, this is a great book for beginners and it has enough creative ideas in it for people who have been sewing a while. I'm happy to have this little gem in my library.
T's for nonconformists! June 10, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great how to, book, with easy (mostly NON sew)directions for artsy nonconformists, who like to make statements with their clothes. Yes it's basic...but that's the point. Teens don't want complicated, and neither do I. EASY,funky and cute. If you are creative there are other ways to use the ideas. My 15 yr old daughter can't wait to start ripping her T's up, so it's also good for teen anger relief, what more could a parent want?
Expand Your Wardrobe & Recycle June 1, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is amazing. The author is one serious crafty lady. The first project I made was a dress AND I didn't have to cut OR sew ANYTHING!!!!!! I received compliments on it all day. The instructions and diagrams are very clear and easy to understand. For every project there are variations so there are fashions to flatter many sizes. There's even stuff for guys.
If you live in an urban area during the summer many parks have activities where free t-shirts are given out. Going on vacation? Every theme park, airport, gas station, beach destination, & tourist trap has their own t-shirt. (Last years version is usually on clearance.) Why not pick up a few, get crafty, and present friends and family with a designer souvenir without breaking $5 on each? The possibilities with this book are limitless.
If you, are like me, and take serious issue in parting with your old t-shirts this book is an absolute must-have. ( And the first step in creating a killer summer wardrobe on the cheap!) Although not required, the Mini Rex Cordless Sewing Machine is a nice first timer sewing machine that will speed up your projects without breaking your wallet.
Favorite Recon Book May 27, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is an absolute must for any clothing reconstructionist beginner. There are many no-sew alternatives to the sewing versions and many of the ones you do have to sew involve minimal effort (mostly straight lines a few inches long). I LOVE this book and I think that most crafters would.
