Wise Investment! June 28, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a great book for beginners! It contains easy to follow instructions and color pictures/diagrams. If your new to sewing/quilting like me, you'll find that this book is incredibly helpful. Even my friend who has been quilting for many years says that this is a good reference book. It's a wise investment and I recommend this book. It would even make a great gift!
Great help for beginning quilters March 29, 2005 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I started quilting about a month ago, and have been looking at quilting books for that time. I have been teaching myself hand-quilting, and have taken one machine course. This book is one of the ones that I keep by me at all times. I am constantly referring back to it. There is only one other book that I like as much for the amount of information in it and that is _All About Quilting A to Z._ If you are starting quilting and have never quilted before (maybe even haven't sewn much), then this is the book for you. I got this book from amazon.com sight unseen and was ecstatic with it. I would have to say that this is one of the only quilting books that I can recommend for any beginner. If you get this one and the All About Quilting A to Z book, you will be set for quite a while.

Wanted: Creative souls who long to tackle quilting...... April 14, 2004 114 out of 117 found this review helpful
If you have never sewn, or have limited experience at best-grab this book! Quilting books-and I have a huge " beginners" collection-are geared towards those who have at least grasped the basic terminology of sewing and quilting. If you do not understand "stitch in the ditch", "burying the knot", "selvage", or how the determine the "crossgrain"-start reading today! It will save you a lot of time, frustration, and wasted fabric, money, and resources. Quilting should be inspiring, fun, and relaxing-not an exercise in frustration. This book will save you the heartache of a dust gathering project. Remember that all learning involves the basics-the bulding blocks of knowledge-sewing and quilting are not the exception. Do not be discouraged by those who have been sewing for years-everyone has to begin somewhere. Peruse the other selections that Amazon has to offer. Arm yourself with the basics, and you will be confident when you begin your next project! Good LucK!
Great book!!! April 2, 2004 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
This book has helped me a lot! I am a true beginner, I just learned how to use a sewing machine! There are literally hundreds of COLOR pictures and drawings that explain how to do procedures. I am making a baby quilt right now and I am teaching myself how to do it with the help of this book. All of my questions have been answered so far and I am learning a lot! There are advanced techniques included too, like the many different kinds of applique. I think if you are an experienced quilter you could get a lot from this book too.
