A++ !! July 31, 2007 I started reading it and couldn't put it down! The book goes back and forth between the past and the present, so it leaves you hanging at the end of every chapter, waiting for more. Clever use of song titles to help tell the story. I enjoyed all of the movie quotes and trying to guess which movie they came from, and I liked how the characters were developed. It reminded me of a Janet Evanovich book where the action is non-stop and yet very funny at times. I would recommend it to anyone old enough to remember and enjoy the 1980's.
Funniest Book I've Read in a While! July 31, 2007 I've always wondered why the characters in books don't talk more like normal people do? Well, they DO in this book - which is written with a multitude of funny quotes and classic songs that all bring pleasant memories back to the reader and make him/her actually feel "involved" in the story. But behind all of the humor is a very good plot that does NOT follow the typical predictable track. I guessed wrong many times while trying to figure out the author's next move, which is a nice break from the ordinary. Anyone who laughs at "Saturday Night Live"-type humor will love the book. I did!
This was a GREAT read!! July 31, 2007 Great job of spinning a mystery/suspense novel in with a side-splitting humorous tale! This was a fun, easy read that made me laugh out loud at times. I appreciated the historical elements of the story, but the plot is perfectly understandable for someone who has never even seen a baseball card. The surprise ending ties it all together and explains everything in a pleasing resolution. This is one of those fun books that you will want to recommend to your friends between the ages of 30 and 60 who appreciate funny movies and old music. A+
