Great listening for driving August 23, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good easy listening. Dramatic reading of parts is a bit distracting and misses the mark of being entertaining.
Great value... but messy MP3 tags... July 5, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I just bought a copy of this, and I thought it would be great because all the CD have been ripped for you. Basically, what this is is the same NKJV Audio Bible by Stephen Johnston where someone used iTunes 5 to rip it and they have compiled it all into these 3 CDs. The ripping quality is at about 20Kbps + 11025Hz, whereas a minimum for music is about 128Kbps. The sound quality is satisfactory as this is mainly a reading of the Bible.
When I looked into the 3 discs, what came up was the poor organization of the files. The MP3 tags are also a mess, so I reorganizing all the file names and MP3 tags so that when it gets in my iPod, it would show up great. After doing that, I realized that all the MP3 could actually fit into 1 CD rather than have to put it in 3 CDs. The whole organization and tags on this set could have been done better, but I'll still buy it because it is great value for money.
Hence, the real plus point to this 3 CDs MP3 set is: 1. Someone has ripped all 58 CDs for you. 2. You pay a fraction of the cost as compared to getting the full set on audio CDs.
A great audio Bible version to own April 12, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was really encouraged to see that the entire Bible was contained on three CD's full of MP3 files. The quality of the actors reading is excellent. After a while you don't notice the actors and you can concentrate on the Word (which is the whole idea). The background music and sound effects are a nice touch.
They could have done a better job naming the tracks so that someone browsing on their MP3 player could find the Bible verses by the Bible's Book name (Genesis, Exodus, etc.) You can figure out which book and chapter is contained in each track by the abbreviations, but using the files' album and artist names as they are makes things hard to find.
It wasn't too hard to upload the MP3 files onto my computer and manually organize the MP3 files with album names that identified the Book of the Bible being read. Once the files were grouped and named properly, the product is awesome to use.
Quality Problems April 3, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have noticed other reviews which say that the quality of the MP3 files is poor (also similar problems with the CD version (NKJV Audio Bible-58 CD Set). I have definitely had some problems with mine. I haven't gotten all the way through the set yet. I just started CD #2, in II KINGS. So far, I've had the ends of chapters cut off, skipping and repeating of a phrase throughout a chapter, and chapters missing altogether (they have the correct name, but they are actually a chapter that is further in the book). I'm pretty surprised that Nelson put their name on this.
Very well done mp3 audio NKJV Bible March 18, 2007 I found this to be a very well done audio Bible. At first I didn't think I would like the dramatization but it is better than I thought. Overall I would recommend it.
