Treasure Oregon on your feet! June 27, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This wonderful hiking guide does indeed disclose to the reader some almost unknown trails. I was born and raised in the Portland area and frequently made stops with family or friends while driving Oregon's highways. There are numerous unmarked trails heretofore quite unknown to the average person. This volume gives access to a number of those "hidden" gems. My all-time favorite Oregon hike is along the trails above Multnomah falls. If you run them, with the cool air there, you will experience the all time natural high! The Columbia Gorge is truly a miracle for the Oregon hiker. I hope you appreciate what you have there! For the most part, I just get to fantasize by looking at this volume. Be sure to check out trails on the way to the Oregon Coast. There are lots of hidden ones there!
Put on your hiking boots... June 14, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This detailed guide book will tell you everything you need to know about 100+ wonderful hikes in Northwest Oregon. The book shares some of Oregon's best kept secrets and includes hikes for beginners, intermediate and experienced hikers. There are even a handful of hikes that are suitable for families and young children. Elevation gain, total mileage, open dates, and a brief description of the trail are included with each hike making it easy to narrow down your choices. In addition, symbols throughout the book identify trails that are suitable for mountain bikers, strollers and wheelchairs. Nothing beats a good hike in Oregon and this comprehensive book tells you everything you need to know and helps you find the best hikes around. You will never run out of new places to explore with this guide.
