4 out of 5 stars Barack-What a wonderful book!!--There is nothing wrong with HOPE!   December 13, 2006

I really enjoyed this book. I think my view of Barack was indifferent until I read his book. He an idealist, a populist (like Lou Dobbs), a man for the people. I think he is very sincere. The fact that he still has hope and can articulate that 'HOPE' is refreshing. Whether you're a Republican or Democratic-Barack is breath of fresh air. I don't know if he can win the Presidency, but he's got a good chance. Read the book and judge for yourself.

1 out of 5 stars A Poorly Written, Failed Attempt at Insight   December 13, 2006

Barack Hussein Obama's latest book "The Audacity of Hope" is a failed attempt at writing. In this book, Barack Hussein Obama claims that we need to "reclaim" the American dream. Yet all around us Americans are achieving their dreams. More Americans own homes than ever before and the economy is stronger than it ever has been. There hasn't been a terrorist attack on American soil in years, and Iraq is a free Democracy when just a few short years ago Iraqis were being gassed by the terrorist Saddam.

Clearly we don't need to "reclaim" something that we already have. We are living the American dream thanks to pro-freedom policies enacted by great presidents like George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. Now is a great time to be an American, and a poor time to be selling Americans lies about how miserable things are. Sorry Barack Hussein Obama, I don't need to reclaim the American dream - I'm already living the American dream.

2 out of 5 stars Platitudes   December 11, 2006

Typical collection of political pap and platitudes. Nothing earth shaking. If you want to read something that will open your eyes to what we are politically up against, read America Alone by Mark Steyn.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic and insightful....   December 9, 2006

Not knowing very much about Barack Obama and getting most of my information from the media, I purchased the book as an opportunity to find out where the man really stood on the issues. Other than being a Democrat, I didn't notice him take a stance on any one issue per se. However, what I am impressed by is his compassion and authencity which is apparent throughout the book. I can appreciate an honest man any day over the typical politician. He's definately the real deal and I recommend the book highly.

5 out of 5 stars Eloquently-communicated perceptions from a genuine person   December 6, 2006

Barack Obama's writing style is clear, articulate & very readable. But it is his interweaving of his past experiences, how they have shaped him as a person & how they guide his current thoughts, perspectives & goals that I found most interesting. Mr. Obama strikes me as an authentic, genuine person who we would be lucky to have in our political arena for decades to come. While I cringe that he may become less straightforward & honest being in politics, he is one of the few who I truly trust & the best hope for success that I see in our future. His values are right-on & I hope that he has many chances to steer the course of American history in the coming years.
