Very Good January 10, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This item is very good for birders. It is not something that will make a birder immediately become 100 percent capable of identifying birds. It helps a birder practice. It helps a birder know what birds are located in Eastern and Central North America. It takes practice. It goes great with the field guide. While reading and seeing what the bird looks like, you have a chance to hear what the bird sounds like.
Best guide to bird sounds January 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Birding by Ear is like a college course in how to distinquish the voices of different species. Other guides may give you many more species but Birding by Ear methodically compares and explains bird songs, notes, and calls. Highly recommended for the birder who wants to identify birds not only by sight but also by sound.
Bird identification by ear November 5, 2006 If one is aurally inclined, "Birding by Ear" is a supoerb adjunct to written guides. Because one can replay as often as needed, the learning curve is greatly increased. Birds are are appropriately grouped making identification particularly easy.
excellent teaching method August 7, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've listened to all 3 cds just once through and already I can identify 5 or 6 birds by their calls. I find myself listening whenever I'm outside to see if I can hear one of the birds in this guide. I highly recommend getting this if you are interested in learning bird calls. It is highly effective.
Wonderful resource! June 23, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am a novice bird watcher, and my enjoyment has increased exponentially after listening to these fabulous recordings. The material is logically organized and beautifully presented. Great to listen to in the car when heading to or from an outdoor adventure!
