5 out of 5 stars Want HAPPY KIDS? Read this book.   October 29, 2008

Those who find this book offesive or violent are missing the key elements it presents: that proper training and discipline involve a CALM and CHEERFUL parent, and result in a HAPPY and CONFIDENT child. Nowhere do the authors advocate an angry or abusive approach to child-rearing; they focus on the joy and calmness that is found in a home where children know their limits. The parents who feel that spanking a child is always wrong, are often the ones seen red-faced with anger at their disobedient children, verbally abusing them or jerking them around. THAT certainly does not produce a well-balanced kid. This book, however, does.

5 out of 5 stars A great resource   October 14, 2008

This book, as well as others written by the Pearls, have been absolute great resources for me as a wife and mother. First and formorst, I look to the Bible, have any of you negative commenters heard of this book? Are you sure you are speaking from what you have learned from your in depth daily Bible studies? But the reviews that I have read by, oh so many, seem to not have a clue as to what the Bible is and teaches. It is the Word of God. All scripture is given by inspiration of God... The teachings that I have read from the Pearls, are in agreement with what God has written in His Word. This is a simple fact. Of course, mankind has always been given the freewill to chose. We all have choices, even those in bondage. What do you chose? I chose to believe the Bible. The written Word of God. I thank God for giving the Pearls the wisdom to discern right from wrong, and I pray that many reading this, will seek that sort of wisdom. As for those of you who do not know the difference between a spanking for correction, and abuse, then read the Bible. Hitting a child in anger is absolutley wrong, according to the Bible. Using a "rod" to spank a child when he/she has directly dissobeyed authority, is in line with what the Bible teaches. I know many people, including myself, who were fortunate enough to be raised by God fearing parents who used the "rod" very carefully, NEVER abusively, and have taught me the importance of respecting authority! A lesson our young generation needs desperately! One last thing, if you are going to quote what Authors write in their books, wouldn't it be nice if you actually did it accurately? But, I'm sure it is very tempting to twist the actual words and meanings to fit a commentor's own agenda. Too tempting to turn away from for, sadly so many. Get this book and other Pearl materials if you believe the Bible. Ask God to show you personally what His message is for you in every bit of literacy you read.

5 out of 5 stars Loving your child God's way.   October 8, 2008

I love this book. Our three children have thrived on the application of God's training techniques as laid out by the Pearls. And the past 25 years as a school administrator have shown me first hand the results of the Secular Humanist approach that opposes the Pearls: chaos reigns in their homes. The happiness of the Pearl children---and my own---is all the testimony I need to affirm where the truth is in raising well-adjusted children. Great book!

1 out of 5 stars The authors of this book are dangerous!   October 6, 2008

They mention in the book that they whipped their 4 motnh old daughter.....that is just horrible. They should be arrested for child abuse.
