Amazing Book! January 31, 2008 As a young football Coach this book provided a lot of wisdom and good advice. Season of Life is a book that takes the reader through the season of a football team. It takes you through the ups and downs, the glory and the heartache. This book has been endorsed and recommended by the FCA. This book is so real to those of us who know what coaching is like. Its honest, emotional and inspiring. I recommend it to those who have not read it. It should be a must read for all coaches.
Reach your adolescent athlete January 31, 2008 I recently purchased this book as a gift for a young man who seems to be losing his way in life but is passionate about football. I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. The prose is clean and simple, but the ideas are big and probably a bit scary for teens and for those of us who have never truthfully confronted some of life's great issues. Marx takes the most taboo subject for men-- love-- and makes it noble. His plan for "how to become a man" is indispensable for anyone who loves a budding male athlete. Of course, this same principles apply to society at large, but children who play or enjoy football will relate best to this book. Do not wait to give this book as a graduation gift--give it to your young athlete before they have a chance to be scarred by an abusive coach or influenced by questionable friends. After having read it before giving it to my student, I am planning to buy a second copy for my husband.
Loved it! January 24, 2008 I absolutly loved this book! Jeffery Marx is such powerful writer, he moved me deeply within the first few chapters of this impressive novel. This book has a powerful message and it is a fantastic read. The writer teaches you what it truly means to be a man and have integrity. Reading this book will give you a whole new look on life and you will be changed forever. This book is the most powerful novel I have read in a long time. I recommend this book to anyone, teens and adults alike.
Season of Life January 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is very good book about becoming a man. For instance I am almost 13 years old and this talks about a lot of stuff that goes on in a teenagers life that's sometimes confusing and hard. Like how Joe Ehrmann lost his brother to cancer. I just lost my grandfather very unexpectedly this past November to a heart attack when he was only 69 years old. This also talks about how to make an impact on the people and world around you. Quoted from the book it says, "that in the long run people aren't going to remember you for sports stats or skills but from the impact you put on that person's life. Like what kind of father, friend, dad, grandpa, etc., that's what people will remember you by." This really pulls you away from the world around you and makes you think a little bit more about what you are doing with your life. The great thing about it too is that it ties all these lessons into football, as Joe being a former NFL player and now a highschool football coach. If you are a teenager and are going through some rough times I would strongly recommend this book.
great inspirational book January 24, 2008 This is a book you can recommend to anyone as an encouragement. The title makes it seem like it's for men or fathers, but ladies will definitely get a lot out of it, too. We've purchased many copies and gave out as gifts. It serves as a reminder of your place in God's big plan and motivates you to strive for higher values and meaning in life.
