5 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!   November 17, 2008
I loved this book. It was very powerful and if you have questions about God, it is such a great way to look at it. Very comforting when you are struggling or have doubts about life and love. I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Theology   November 17, 2008
I was fairly certain that I wanted this book even before I bought it. We have a "book bunch" in our church who meet each Wednesday evening to discuss various authors & books. We have been on this book, The Shack, for about 6 weeks. I like the idea that God is approachable. The black woman character gives me that idea & feeling. I would rather have had just "God" and not "Jesus" & "Sarayu." I think the author could have gotten his point across without the "Trinity."
As my husband has said, "there is more theology in this book than I got in Seminary.

It has been 45 days since ordering. I have been billed. I filed a complaint with Amazon and the vendor and received no response. I am frustrated taht there is no way to contact Amazon direct about the order and talk to a live person.

This book is far from a Christian view. If you want to know what God is REALLY like you need to read the BIBLE.

This short novel will be a welcome relief to anyone laboring under an understanding of God as a gray old man sitting up in the clouds, causing or allowing things to happen like some holy puppeteer. I've always wondered about all the rituals and doctrines invented by humans in a feeble attempt to figure out how they got here, what they are to do while they're here, where they're going when they die and what will happen to them when they get there, and The Shack has helped to lift a veil from my spiritual eyes, a surprisingly profound story that speaks a simple truth I can hear.
I highly recommend The Shack to any person seeking a truth they have not found in a church pew.
